A Volunteer’s Experience…
“Hearing stats of homelessness sounded so distant until I started volunteering at Today House. And when my wife and I got involved with Today House, it became reality. Prior to volunteering I found myself asking many questions and regularly talked to a colleague of mine, who volunteered there. Volunteering at a homeless shelter, I thought, would be complex and challenging. Well, I was wrong. The volunteer orientation as well as the close support by the very involved staff & board of directors have made my volunteering easy. And one thing that works really well for my wife and I is the flexibility in the volunteering schedule. It has been absolutely inspiring to be a part of the genuine care the shelter provides to those in need. Ultimately, it has been a humbling yet meaningful experience to be of support to the less fortunate.” Richard H.

The men and women we serve face big obstacles every day, and every day they face them head on, hoping that today will be better than yesterday. Here is how you can make a difference in their lives.
We also encourage you to send “Warm Words”, that’s a gift of supportive words. Words that can encourage. Words that say they are not alone. Words that demonstrate to someone who is climbing enormous obstacles, that it’s worth the climb.
It is simple. Just send your Warm Words to email@example.com and we’ll make sure they get to those who are staying with us. If you are inspired to send cards or pictures, that’s okay too. You can send them to: Today House, Box 784, Steinbach, MB R5G 1M6
This does not cost you any money. Your only commitment is to take a moment to jot down some thoughts. That’s it. It’s an opportunity for anyone to extend a helping hand, regardless of financial means.
